Heirloom Living Market Lilburn:  Countdown to Close...

The Market closes Monday at 8:00pm!

Thank you to those who have already placed orders! Some items may have been added if you ordered early, so be sure and check out “..this and that…” below!

Please remember that minimums must be met for each Market to ensure delivery by our Farmers! At the present time we are a little more than 1/2 way to minimum! Be sure and get your order in and thank you for supporting our LOCAL Farmers!

…this and that…

Pork Ribs are still on Special this week! Since it might be a tad chilly to grill, try seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic and caraway seed, place in crockpot, add sauerkraut on top! Served with mashed potatoes and a salad this makes a delicious ‘winter’ dinner!

Pork Shanks are also on Special this week! These Shanks are surprisingly full of meat and wonderful to use in soups!

Pork Livers, Heart, Feet are also on Special this week. I am unsure of recipes or suggestions for Livers and Hearts but will investigate and let you know! I am sure Farmer Greg will have suggestions! Pigs Feet can be added to Bone Broths and helps to produce great flavor!

Cod and Salmon

Thanks to Kathy Barnes, Cod and Salmon are back on the Market! In addition, Kathy has added two other interesting and delicious items! Salmon Jerky and Salmon Keta Candy. I cannot wait to try both of these offerings! There is a limited quantity! Delay ordering at your own risk!

Cereals and Grains

Did you know that we have several different options for Organic Cereals and Grains?
Amish Cereal (Organic Red Wheat and other goodies)
Rolled Oats (Organic Rolled Oats)
Stone Ground Grits (Organic Corn Grits)
Einkorn Wheat Berries Organic Perfect to mill yourself and make your own Bread!
Einkorn Flour Organic Freshly milled when ordered!
Red Wheat Organic Freshly milled when ordered or request the berries and mill yourself!

Veggies: It is Winter and the weather has been rather crazy this past month, so Mother Nature has definitely impacted the availability of Veggies on the Market. I am working to find Farmers who have High Tunnels and Greenhouses to add to our selections! Thankfully, The Veggie Patch has a variety to keep us supplied!

Do you have a Recipe that you would love to share? Click on the Recipe Tab at the top of the page and follow the prompts! If you would rather, we input, please give a copy to your Market Coordinator at Market and we will share with your fellow Members! Of course credit will be given to the Chef submitting the Recipe! We all need inspiration sometimes! Please share! We can even tie the ingredients in the Recipes to items on the Market! Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  Reminder about ANP

Just a reminder to all Spa City Co-op customers that if you want to order fresh greens from Arkansas Natural Produce for this market, you’ll need to do so before tonight at 9 pm, so that they can harvest in time to deliver for pick up.

Many thanks,
Karen Holcomb

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 Farm, week of Jan 17 2016

I got excited this week with a post by Rob Hopkins (he of Transition Towns movement) raving about a new book on Urban Farming, by a young Canadian musician, Curtis Stone. Says Hopkins, " Curtis Stone’s brilliant new book ‘The Urban Farmer’, is one of the most important contributions to Transition thinking over the last 10 years, and sets out in great depth and detail what that could look like."

Contrast this with this: Corporate Farming!

As of Jan 17th, we can offer the following crops: sweet potato, cilantro, parsley, kale, fresh dug carrots, chard, collards, spaghetti and red october squash, red skin and purple potatoes.

Camelia is cooking prepared foods from our produce: apple sauce, stuffed peppers, cucumber relish, quiches (on order).

Meats SPECIAL THIS WEEK: GROUND BEEF 10% OFF
I have pork, beef lamb and chicken in the freezer. I have Bonny’s Big Red roasting chickens, ducks, geese and stewing hens.

Eggs SPECIAL CONTINUES THIS WEEK: 3 for 2 Please bring in recycled cartons.

Healthy eating,
Ian, Cami and Kazlyn

Princeton Farm Fresh:  The Market is Open

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!! Hope everyone has been bundled up and keeping warm this weekend. Fun fact:
Many insects prepare for winter by creating their own “antifreeze.” During the fall, insects produce more glycerol, which gives their body a “super-cooling ability” by allowing bodily fluids to drop below freezing without causing ice damage. Their glycerol levels drop again during the spring. “59 Cold Facts About . . . Winter” http://facts.randomhistory.com/winter-facts.html
See you on Friday!

Conyers Locally Grown:  Available for Friday January 22

I hope this finds you all doing well. The market is open and ready for orders. We will see you on Friday between 5-7 at Copy Central.

We have lots of pork available, great salmon and a few slim pickins on the veggie front. We still have plenty of sweet potatoes, collards, mustard and a bit of this and that.

Thank you,
Brady

Dawson Local Harvest:  The Harvest for mid-January

The Dawson Local Harvest for January

HI EVERYBODY!

January is here, and some cool-weather veggies are in the fields at LEILANI’S. This week Cabbage, Leeks, and Kohlrabi are on their menu. Incidentally, LEILANI’S is putting in a 3rd Cold-frame (unheated greenhouse) to go with their heated greenhouse, 1/2 acre field, and raised beds. Look for a much larger and more varied offering from them starting in March.

Elsewhere, FIVE HENS FARMS has both free-range Beef and Pork as well as a few Eggs (well, you try laying eggs in freezing weather!). There’s also Raw Milk, Honey, and other goodies. Take a look and see tickles your fancy.

Finally, I just heard that GRACE ACRES FARMS will have their delicious free-range Chicken available in April.

THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!

REMEMBER! You can order until Tuesday night at 8pm. Pick up your order at Leilani’s Gardens Friday afternoons from 4 to 7pm.

You’ll find the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST at http://dawsonville.locallygrown.net

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible! We guarantee your satisfaction with all products in the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST.

Have a happy and healthy week!
